40 Years of Craftsmanship & Conviction

Founded in Hausham in 1985, EHAM is now synonymous with the highest standards in interior construction. With a special focus on flooring, kitchens and joinery, we have also been planning our clients’ dream homes with our own dedicated team for more than 15 years. Wood is at the heart of what we do. And so is our commitment to putting people first, both our clients and our employees. Ten years ago, founder Josef Eham handed over the management of the company to his son Dominik Eham, together with his co-managing director. His daughter Sophia also plays a key role in shaping the company’s visual communication.

“Passion is the driving force behind everything we imagine and create.” – Josef Eham

Between the Barn and Technology

What began in Hausham in 1985 without running water has grown into a medium sized company for premium interior fit out. For our 40th anniversary, we have brought together many stories and, above all, many projects worth telling in our Superpaper, from A to Z.

What has always mattered most is togetherness. People who lend a hand, listen and keep going. This attitude has shaped our path, built on trust, responsibility and the ambition to become better together. And it is this same attitude that continues to carry us through every project, every challenge and every next step.

To the Superpaper

Over the coming days, we will share more details and updates on 40 Years of EHAM.

Four Decades of EHAM

Four decades of EHAM. A moment to pause, look back and celebrate together. For our 40th anniversary, we opened our workshops and invited our guests to experience our work where it is created.

In one of our assembly rooms, the spaces where every piece of furniture we make is fully assembled before installation, we welcomed almost 300 guests. A small exhibition of furniture, including finished pieces as well as 3D printed models from the design stage, offered a first glimpse into the many layers of our world.

In small groups, our guests first learned about the different surfaces we work with. In a tactile box made by us, they were able to feel various surfaces and experience them through taste as well: edible stones and oils as an analogy for the oils and lyes used to treat our wood. We recreated this process step by step using hardwoods and softwoods to show both the differences and the craft behind them.

In the spray room, everyone was invited to take the spray gun into their own hands. Across a 2 by 3 metre canvas, an intuitive collective artwork emerged, created by our guests using five different colours.

In our second assembly room, guests were invited to enjoy delicious edible tools, from sawdust to hammers and screwdrivers made of bread crackers. At the same time, they discovered the most important tools of the joiner’s craft, including those from earlier times. These were then put to use during the live construction of a piece of furniture. The result was a futuristic vehicle, one that our founder Josef, also known as Sepp Eham, particularly enjoys riding.

From there, the journey continued to the origin of every piece of furniture, every floor and every façade: our small forest. At almost five metres high, we built different types of wood into pyramids and presented the most important wood trends of recent years, alongside selected project excerpts. This was accompanied by a small edible forest, which led visitors on to the cutting area with two metre long baguettes and five metre long paper strips offering a visual insight into 40 years of EHAM.

At the end, guests visited our new Zuhaus, ZUH, which we presented through an immersive 3D experience. It also showed the further development of our once entirely analogue way of working. As part of a 3D visualisation created especially for the celebration, guests were able to experience the possibilities this technology opens up in the planning process. At the touch of a button, Zuhaus could be viewed with a different interior design. A film also showed the relevant construction phases in an artistic way.

As a reward for completing the parcours, guests received a custom made wooden tray based on a design by Christina Ehrmann, carrying our Superpaper, which tells the story of EHAM from A to Z.

We look forward to the next celebration, in ten years at the latest.
